Dive! The Film

Transition Towns Kinsale Film Night, in association with Kinsale Arts Festival, presents the award winning documentary on waste called Dive! by filmmaker Jeremy Seifert.

Update:  We are also showing a short film by Floortje Brandsteder called “Scoraig” about an isolated community who live on a remote Island of scotland.

“The film is an observant and sensory wander through the peninsula and some of its inhabitants who deliberately chose to live in a starkly beautiful but inhospitable area without facilities such as shops, a road or electrical grid”

Date:  5th June 2013

Time: 8pm

Location: Carmelite Friary

Inspired by a curiosity about our country’s careless habit of sending food straight to landfills, the multi award-winning documentary DIVE! follows filmmaker Jeremy Seifert and friends as they dumpster dive in the back alleys and gated garbage receptacles of Los Angeles’ supermarkets. In the process, they salvage thousands of dollars worth of good, edible food – resulting in an inspiring documentary that is equal parts entertainment, guerilla journalism and call to action.
