The sun actually shone. No really, don’t you remember? On a beautiful day in July, TTK coordinated Kinsale Arts Week’s Cultural Awareness Day at the College of Further Education. Activities included a cob workshop in which a strange cross-leggedbeing (Buddha-chameleon?!) was scuplted by many helping hands, Transition TV (a loop of short clips on themes of sustainability, peak oil and the environment),a Fairtrade Café selling teas, coffees and snacks and finally Amnesty International put on a powerful short play called ‘A Footprint of Roses’ about the situation in Zimbabwe which was followed by a discussion on the theme ofthe play with a panel of speakers including Senator Dan Boyle, Simon Coveney TD, Padraig Fitzgerald of Kinsale Peace Project and Kinsale Fairtrade and members of West Cork Amnesty group.
