This is a big and freewhelling group for all interested in any aspect of education - either for sustainability, for youth awareness building or to build the community awareness in general.
This group requires approval for new members to join. Anyone can view the group's description. Only group members are allowed to see the group's content.
Here's what was discussed at the last Education meeting on 6th October:
Transition Year sustainability programme going ahead starting with Klaus teaching the Powerdown course for 40 minutes each Thursday till Christmas. We might get a double period for Alicia and Tara after Christmas. Alicia will be teaching creative stuff, recycling, Transition Tales etc. and Tara food growing.
Education for Sustainability (EFS) are having a fundraising night on 22nd October, Lord Kingsale with music, games and fun scary Halloween activities.
Moving Sounds workshops have been postponed till spring. This gives us more time to organise.
Future of Farming night - Friary Space and speaker John Dolan of Bantry Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) booked for Wed. 11th November. Might find some CSA footage on YouTube also. This is to see if farmers are interested in growing food for the local community, to increase Kinsale's resilience and improve its food security.
Skills share noticeboard will be set up at the Autumn Food Fest next Sunday, 11th October, to get names of people and the skills they might like to offer. Workshops could be arranged, say one per month.
A connection may be set up between TTK and Rossport where members of the community are interested in positive sustainable solutions. The start of a Transition initiative possibly. A speaker close to Rossport will be found initially.
Next meeting: Tuesday 3rd November, 6.30pm, Hamlet's.
