The Kinsale Hub intends to be a place to develop local initiatives, community spirit and sustainable living. It is a welcoming environment where people can meet and engage in projects together for the benefit of themselves and the Community. It will create opportunities for connecting people, creativity and conversation and offers help and inspiration for innovative ideas to be realised.
A heart for the community:
The centre will consist of a work place for local businesses and artists, crèche and local food cafe.
...............................................more ............
- The working hub is intended to be an incubation space for social innovation, helping to make Kinsale more resilient, and developing livelihoods for local people.
- The centre will explore more integrated ways of living and working by having childcare catered in the workplace.
- ·It examines community systems like education and money and align them with the real needs of society.
- The cafe provides local food and a space to come together to talk, share ideas and have fun
- ·It will be a place where a broad range of local art can be developed and presented including music, poetry, literature, theatre, film and visual arts.
The center intends to celebrate and promote ‘Transition Town Kinsale’: We live in a town that has begun a movement towards a positive effect globally; we have the potential to develop more creative ideas to improve our world.
It will be a base to help people start their own green business, with the support that the hub provides including opportunities for collaboration and exchange, pooled skills, incubation and resources and information. It will be an inspiring environment for social innovation for the benefit of Kinsale and beyond.
- A centre to provide facilities and services for local people and attract others to the town.
- A drop in centre for the community; where information, advice and support can be accessed when setting up your own business.
- Local youth clubs and schools have been invited to participate; thus empowering young people to get involved in shaping their environment and future.
We have begun with
- an essay competition for The Hub BBQ Day, which invites imaginative prose on this subject.
- a drawing competition to create the Kinsale Hub Mascot; this has been sent to all local national schools.
Best practice shared with communities nationally and internationally; networking and the sharing of ideas keeping the centres scope far reaching and relevant to the global situation.
We are researching other like minded groups
nationally and internationally.

The Kinsale Hub is Supported by Transition Town Kinsale
New Beginnings: Our first event was a fundraiser to help to get The Kinsale Hub up and running. On August 14th 2011 a group of us put together a fun filled inspiring day on Kinsale's dock beach. See the video link below, it captures the fun and magic of the day.
